Trauma Therapy Options

Exploring Trauma Therapy Options at Alliance for Healing

Trauma affects each person differently. It can shape how we experience the world, how our bodies respond, and how we relate to ourselves and others. At Alliance for Healing, we take an individualized, whole-brain approach to trauma care—helping you find the path that best supports your nervous system and your healing.
Many people begin their search for trauma therapy having heard of EMDR. While EMDR can be helpful, it is just one of several effective approaches. We specialize in a range of therapies—including neurofeedback, our most widely used modality—to meet you where you are and support lasting change.

Persistent anxiety or feeling “on edge”

Emotional numbness or disconnection

Difficulty trusting others or forming close relationships

Physical symptoms such as tension, headaches, or sleep disruption

Our Approach to Trauma Healing

We offer both brain-based (bottom-up) and therapy-based (top-down) approaches. Many clients benefit from combining modalities for deeper, more lasting results.

Neurofeedback

Infra-Low Frequency (ILF) Neurofeedback and Alpha-Theta Neurofeedback are our most widely practiced and effective approaches for trauma.
Neurofeedback works by helping the brain learn to regulate itself more effectively—often without needing to revisit or verbalize painful memories.

Neurofeedback is especially helpful for clients who feel overwhelmed by traditional therapy or have difficulty talking about their experiences.

    ILF Neurofeedback
    • Helps stabilize the nervous system
    • Reduces anxiety, hypervigilance, and emotional reactivity
    • Supports improved sleep and resilience

    Alpha-Theta Neurofeedback

    • Promotes deep relaxation and restorative brain states
    • Supports gentle processing of trauma
    • Enhances emotional regulation and inner awareness

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EMDR is a structured therapy that helps the brain reprocess distressing memories using bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, or sound).

      Particularly supportive for:
      • Single-event trauma (accidents, assaults, disasters)
      • PTSD symptoms such as flashbacks
      • Clients who feel ready to engage directly with specific memories

      Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a body-based therapy that helps access and process trauma stored in the nervous system by using specific eye positions.

        Particularly supportive for:

        • Trauma that is hard to put into words
        • Persistent emotional or physical tension
        • When talk therapy alone hasn’t been enough

        Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

ART is a brief, directive therapy that uses eye movements to help the brain quickly process and reframe distressing memories.

          Particularly supportive for:
          • Rapid relief from specific traumatic images or memories
          • Anxiety, phobias, and stress-related symptoms
          • Clients looking for a shorter-term, focused approach

          Trauma-Informed Talk Therapy

Talk therapy provides a safe, supportive space to understand your experiences, build coping strategies, and strengthen resilience.

            Supportive for:
            • Making sense of patterns and emotional responses
            • Building tools for daily life
            • Integrating other trauma therapies

Finding the Right Approach for You

Trauma recovery is not linear, and no single modality is right for everyone. By offering EMDR, Brainspotting, Neurofeedback, and trauma-informed

There is no one-size-fits-all path to healing. Some clients come in asking for EMDR and discover that neurofeedback is a better starting point. Others benefit from combining approaches over time.
Our role is to guide you—based on your nervous system, your history, and your goals—toward the therapies that will be most effective for you.
