Betrayal Trauma Course

Starting April 16th

Finding Self After Betrayal

You did not choose this. You did not prepare for it.

And yet everything changed.

Betrayal trauma alters your internal world. What once felt stable can suddenly feel disorienting, unreal, or unsafe. This course is not about rushing you toward decisions. It is about helping you regain your footing.

Using story, metaphor, guided reflection, and experiential exercises drawn from Writing to Healing – The Rabbit Hole and the Betrayed Partner by Dr. Diane Hovey, this six-week psychoeducational journey helps you understand what happened to you — not what you did wrong.

What this course is designed to do:

Phase One: The Fall Into an Altered Reality helps you:

  • Understand why betrayal feels destabilizing and surreal

  • Name the hidden assumptions that were shattered

  • Recognize trauma responses without pathologizing yourself

  • Contain grief, fear, and self-blame

  • Reclaim orientation before making major decisions

  • Reconnect with agency without self-betrayal

You are not undone.
You are not broken.
You are learning how to stand again.

This course may be a fit if:

  • You feel disoriented or destabilized after betrayal

  • You are stuck between options and unsure how to move forward

  • You want structured understanding before making decisions

  • You are looking for trauma-informed education

  • You want to reclaim clarity and agency

It may not be the right fit if you are seeking immediate couples resolution work or active trauma processing in a clinical setting.

The Six-Week Journey

Week 1 — Rabbit Hole: The Fall Into an Altered Reality

We begin at the rupture. This week names the shock, disbelief, and disorientation that follow betrayal. The focus is grounding, not clarity.

Week 2 — Life’s Assumptions: Shattered Beliefs

We explore the core beliefs about love, safety, and commitment that were quietly holding your world together. The goal is understanding, not self-judgment.

Week 3 — The Spiral of Losses

Grief, fear, shame, and self-blame are acknowledged without being amplified. You will learn how to contain what feels overwhelming.

Week 4 — Wrong-Size Options & The Hallway of Doors

You may see choices ahead, but none feel right. This week focuses on awareness without pressure to decide.

Week 5 — Opening the Door: Responsibility and Choice

Responsibility is reframed as participation in your healing, not blame for the betrayal. The emphasis is agency without forcing certainty.

Week 6 — Chasing White Rabbits: The Search for Answers

We examine the urgency to make sense of the senseless and recognize distorted meaning and unhelpful narratives. The focus is discernment and grounding.
