Our Team, Our Mission, Our Values, Our Therapies.
Our Mission
Alliance for Healing offers treatment for those living with the challenge of trauma, anxiety, depression, chronic disorders, sexual compulsive disorders or addiction, betrayal, and intimacy disorders. We assist our clients in a safe and respectful environment to rebuild healthy relationships, restore function and find meaning and purpose in life.

Our Commitment
We are committed to fostering an environment where everyone feels valued, respected and included. We celebrate the diversity of our clients, clinicians and staff, recognizing that each person brings unique experiences, perspectives and strengths to our community.
- We strive to create a safe and supportive space where individuals from all backgrounds, identities, cultures and abilities can access high-quality mental health care without fear of discrimination or prejudice.
- We actively work to understand and address the unique needs and challenges faced by marginalized and underrepresented communities.
- We work to cultivate cultural humility, empathy and awareness among our team members to better serve the diverse needs of our clients.
Together, we are dedicated to promoting healing, empowerment and social justice for all individuals and communities.
Our Story
In 2001, Dr. Diane Hovey established The Family Institute for Creative Well-Being, a nonprofit that provided art therapy services to under-served communities. When she started to feel the pull of her time being directed toward fundraising versus helping others, Diane looked for ways to better serve families living with ongoing illnesses and disabilities. And thus, Alliance for Healing was created in 2007.
Over the years, Alliance for Healing has grown to a thriving practice that serves individuals and families whose relationships have been rocked due to chronic conditions and mood disorders that impair daily function, as well as those living with trauma. Today, we continue to work together with our clients to help them find hope, direction, clarity and focus in a welcoming setting.

Diane Hovey, PhD, LMFT-S, CPT, CSAT-S, CSRTT-S
Specialized training: Sex Addiction Therapy, Sexual Relational Trauma, Sexual Wellness, Neurofeedback and Biblio/Poetry Therapy
Diane is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and founder of Alliance for Healing. She received her Doctor of Philosophy in Family Social Science from the University of Minnesota where she studied with leading experts in stress theory. Her research focused on those with overwhelming life challenges and how the resulting stressors impact the meanings that drive behaviors. Her specialty areas include intimate betrayal trauma, compulsive/problematic sexual behaviors and chronic illness.
Diane works with clients and families experiencing intimate betrayal. Through therapy, she assists individuals, families and couples in finding emotional healing and understanding with issues such as the discovery of infidelity or sexual addiction and other life challenges. She works with clients to improve skills to manage stress, anger, conflict, depression or anxiety stemming from these issues.
I think of myself as a guide. I work with you to address your goals and desires for improved well-being. I use the methods best suited to assist you in meeting your goals and needs along with my creative skills to aid you in expressing experiences that can be difficult to put into words. We work together to improve skills to manage stress, anger, conflict, depression, or anxiety which can impede our abilities to navigate the uncertainties of life. As one of my clients says, “This is immeasurable order in chaos!”
